Fan's injury should force bat policy change - MLB - Yahoo! Sports

Why will Major League Baseball not stop the use of Maple bats? They obviously pose  a threat to fans, players, and coaches a like.  If I ever get good seats I will be wary of bat shards flying my way.  Why can't players see the danger and stop using them?  If the Ash and Maple bats actually hit the same then why continue to use them? Also why do they use aluminum bats in college and wood in the majors? Everything should be standard and Maple should not be allowed.
